Unified Global Voice – 5G Era and beyond

New unified voice is on the horizon. The present-day VoIP, Voice over Broadband, VoLTE and the future VoNewRadio or VO Fixedwireless will all converge into one. This IMS enabled Next Generation Voice will be richer in terms of features. Voice over planet is no longer a luxury with the right Roaming Providers embedded with intelligence.

Operator provided one numbers can provide a universal presence and uniform experience across the world. Roaming value added services can provide the same flavor and all this will be realized in the 5G era and beyond. Circuit switch fallback will have to cease with Cloud based Mobile core providing the handover necessary for Single Radio Voice Call Continuity aka SRVCC. NSA 5G Pilots should include this feature. Local breakout to emergency services can co-exist with Global Roaming.

Human navigation of the voice is already there. It’s the IOE which needs voice control. NB-IOT may be the leading platform but needs the voice capability to control the Global IOT Deployments anytime from anywhere. VAS partners can provide the necessary control to IOT platforms.

Outliers will be more pervasive, so a Robust Analytic platform for anomaly detection and preventive Fraud Detection are needed.

Federated National Networks for some of the envisaged frequency bands with Spectrum sharing and a greater SNR can be more effective for some future services. In this scenario, it’s the Inter operator egress/ingress that controls this feature.

5G is a U Turn in with the core decollapsed. MEC and Network slicing brings lots of opportunities to enrich User experience but with challenges. Roaming Value Added Service partners have greater opportunities for the generations ahead. They will be pivotal in the Eco system of Clearing Houses and Federates.
